Families and Shorter Trips
Lofsdalen is a well-known, family-friendly destination that suits all ages and ambition levels. Our ski trails are easily accessible, with some starting just above the alpine tree line, allowing you to enjoy the stunning mountain landscape from the first stride. For families with children and less experienced skiers, it means you don’t have to ski far to find a sheltered spot with a view to enjoy your packed lunch. Here are some fun and cozy activities to experience.
Sagospåret for the Little Ones
Take the chance to meet Krysse and his friends. This fun, easy 640-meter loop is perfect for young children, running through sheltered terrain. Krysse welcomes you at the start of the Elljusspåret trail and guides you to the rest of the story family. Local school children helped create some of the characters, and each one is introduced with a short story written by the talented kids.
Solgropen – Just Enough Effort for Maximum Enjoyment
1.2 km along the Upper Strådalsleden trail, you’ll find Solgropen—a perfect trip destination for the whole family. Solgropen offers natural wind protection, and you can enjoy the sun all day when it’s shining from a clear blue sky. Along the edges of Solgropen, kids can enjoy sledding and playing in the snow. In one of the many fire pits, you can grill sausages or enjoy your packed lunch.
Fjällslingan Trail
The Fjällslingan Trail is an easy-going 3 km family trail in open mountain terrain. It’s a loop that runs from Hovärken parking area to Solgropen, then follows the upper part of Solstickaren and returns via Hovärksspåret to the parking area. The trail is just the right length with gentle, thrilling slopes and great visibility. The view over the entire valley makes it a must-do trip in good weather.
Grill Hut on Strådalsleden Trail
5 km along Upper Strådalsleden trail, where it meets Petterssonspåret trall, you’ll find a popular destination—the Strådalsleden Grill Hut. The route there offers easy skiing with only gentle uphill sections; otherwise, it’s flat or a pleasant, gentle downhill slope. Plus, the trip is framed by one of our most beautiful mountain views. Once you reach the grill hut, you can barbecue or enjoy your packed lunch. The trip starts from the Hovärken Spårcentral (trail hub).
Våffelstugan on the Southern Side
On Lofsdalen’s southern mountain side, you’ll find our beloved Våffelstuga. You can either ski up or hitch a ride behind the tracked vehicle departing from Karin’s Sportbod. Våffelstugan is about 3 km up from the lake, just above the tree line, with breathtaking views of Lofsdalen village and the northern mountain slopes. The café serves a light menu, hot and cold drinks, and the all-time favorite: waffles. The return trip offers exciting downhill skiing. For families with young children, booking the tracked vehicle ride both up and down is a great option.
For the Long-Distance Skiing Enthusiast
Lofsdalen’s groomed ski system is perfect for both training and longer ski trips—whether you’re a recreational skier or preparing for a long-distance race. Our trails are interconnected, offering a wide variety of routes to create custom training loops beyond the ones we suggest here.
Gyllene Triangeln: Upper Strådalsleden – Upper Pettersson – Upper Hovärksleden
This popular training loop offers a bit of everything: classic poling sections, uphill stretches, and exhilarating downhill slopes, all in a delightful mix. Surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, this loop makes training extra enjoyable. The loop is a total of 13 km, mostly in open terrain, and is therefore sensitive to drifting snow.
Lussileden Trail
For those looking to train in our most magnificent mountain setting, Lussileden is the way to go. Lussileden includes the Upper Strådalsleden, continuing onto the lower section of Pilgrimsleden, ending at Lussifjället’s Grill Hut. This 11 km one-way groomed trail supports both skate and classic skiing, offering views of the entire Lofsdalen mountain range—training doesn’t get more grand than this. It’s Lofsdalsspår’s personal favorite. Note that it is sensitive to drifting snow and is only groomed when weather permits.
Östan Trail
For skiers eager to skate, we highly recommend our 8 km groomed trail, Östan. Its hilly terrain provides a fun and enjoyable skate skiing experience. The trail runs in sheltered terrain, making it a viable training option even in poorer weather. Of course, it also has classic tracks for those who prefer classic skiing.
