51 - Stenrutsleden MTB - Lofsdalen’s Most Beloved Trail

Starting Point/Parking - The trailhead is at the Västvallen parking lot. Ride along the gravel road back a few hundred meters, and you’ll reach the start of the Stenrutsleden MTB trail. Length - 12.1 km Time - 1-3 hours Stenrutsleden MTB is closed from August 25 according to the landowner agreement. Stenrutsleden MTB begins with a 7 km climb. The trail crosses wide boardwalks and purpose-built bike paths and passes creeks along the way – perfect spots to fill your water bottle. After gaining some elevation, you’ll leave the forest behind, opening up to a mountain landscape with sweeping views. Once you’ve completed the climb, the most strenuous part is behind you, and the high mountain is an ideal spot for a rest. When you’re ready to continue, there’s a pump track to get you moving right away. The trail then winds through mountain birch trees with beautiful views over Lofsdalen’s home mountain, Hovärken. The next stop is a wind shelter above Våffelstugan, and from there, it’s all downhill. Follow Våffelstugan on Facebook for current opening hours. Just below Våffelstugan, the trail gets a bit rocky, with some steep sections. Remember to stay left after descending and follow the signs for Stenrutsleden MTB. This section is reserved for cyclists only, as there are some fast turns along the way. The trail is built with enjoyable berms, and there are also sections of natural trail. Back at Västvallen, you can cool off with a swim in Lake Lofssjön and enjoy grilling at the BBQ area before heading back to your cabin. Thank you for purchasing a Trail Pass. 52 - Vildmarksleden MTB - A Challenging and Masterfully Built Trail

Starting Point/Parking - The trailhead is at the Västvallen parking lot. Length - 15 km Time - 2-4 hours Note: No mobile coverage and narrow boardwalks. Vildmarksleden MTB is closed from August 25 according to the landowner agreement. Initially, follow Stenrutsleden MTB to its steepest ascent, where Vildmarksleden continues straight, taking you even further into the wilderness. The trail is narrow in places, with several rocky and root-covered sections. After a while, the trail veers upward, following ridges shaped during the Ice Age. This climb through mountain birches offers incredibly beautiful views. Once on the mountain plateau, you’ll enjoy fine riding along a narrow path scattered with rocks. The downhill section features exciting, carved berms and connects with the pump track at Stenrutsleden’s highest point. From there, you follow Stenrutsleden all the way back to Västvallen. Vildmarksleden is an excellent choice if you've tried Stenrutsleden and want an even greater challenge. Remember that you’ll be deep into the wilderness, so bring extra clothes and tools in case of a bike issue. On this trail, we share the path with hikers, and as cyclists, we’re the ones who should yield. Thank you for purchasing a Trail Pass. You can ride this trail in either direction, each offering its own unique experience. OPTION 1 Follow along the shore of Lake Lofssjön, then ride uphill on a wide gravel road toward Rutvallen. After the initial ascent, you’ll reach a wide trail through beautiful old-growth forest, full of forest birds. The entire family, even with a bike trailer, can come along up to Rutvallen. The path then narrows and turns left around Rutvallen, leading up onto the mountain. From here, it’s natural trail with lots of stones and roots in places. Just before the next climb, there’s a BBQ spot, perfect for a break before the next challenge. A narrow path takes you up the mountain, where you may need to walk with your bike to reach the top. Once there, you’re rewarded with fantastic views and a beautiful downhill trail. After the more difficult sections, the trail connects with Stenrutsleden’s flow section, giving you an enjoyable ride down to Västvallen. On this trail, we share the path with hikers, so cyclists should yield. OPTION 2 Start by following Stenrutsleden MTB, and if you’re looking for an extra challenge, you can also ride Vildmarksleden MTB. The Vildmarksleden MTB Trail was crafted with love for both the cyclist and the mountains

The Vildmarksleden MTB Trail was crafted with love for both the cyclist and the mountains. “I wanted to build a challenging, hand-dug trail. If it isn’t used, I want nature to be able to reclaim it. I routed the trail along an exciting climb where you can see traces of how the ice age shaped the mountain, creating ridges with the perfect material for trails. This trail is tough and challenging. I built it with e-bikes in mind, so it’s as eventful on the way up as on the way down. I thought it would be fun to have double boardwalks—they add a unique challenge, especially on the climb. There’s a spot to rest on the way up, just when you need it most, and I even found an old bear den that the trail passes by. The downhill stretch is among the best I’ve ever built. It blends seamlessly with the mountain, following its natural slope. Thinking back, I remember all the mosquitoes and the endless buckets of material I carried there, but I also remember the magical feeling of that first ride and the incredible flow of the trail.” —Niklas Skogh, trail designer
